Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Bradenton.

Deck Installation

We build new decks from the footings up, sized and framed for Florida wind loads. Pressure-treated pine, cedar and composite are all options, and we'll walk you through what each one costs over time, not just at closing.

Deck Repair

Soft boards, sagging joists, and posts that have shifted in sandy soil, we deal with all of it. We pull back to solid wood before we patch anything, because covering rot with a new board just hides the problem for a year.

Deck Staining & Sealing

Florida sun turns unsealed pine gray and brittle in under two years. We pressure wash, let the wood dry out fully, then stain and seal so it holds up through the next rainy season instead of cracking.

Composite Decking Installation

Composite boards don't need annual staining and they don't splinter, which matters if you've got kids or bare feet on that deck all summer. We still frame it the same as we would for wood, sometimes with tighter joist spacing depending on the brand's span rating.

Custom Deck Design

Multi-level decks, built-in benches, stairs down to a pool, we lay it out around how you actually use the space. Some homeowners want a simple 12x16 platform off the back door, others want something closer to an outdoor room.

Deck Railing Repair

A railing that wobbles is usually a post that's split or a bolt that's backed out, not always a full rebuild. Florida code wants railings at 36 inches with no gap wider than 4 inches, and we'll bring an older deck up to that while we're at it.

Deck Board Replacement

Sometimes the frame's still solid and it's just a handful of boards that cupped or split. We match the board profile and stagger the new ones in so it doesn't look like a patch job from the yard.

Deck Framing & Ledger Repair

The ledger board bolted to your house is the part that fails quietest, usually from water getting behind it. We re-flash it properly and check the rim joist for rot before reattaching anything, since that connection holds the whole deck to the house.

Pergolas & Deck Covers

A pergola or shade structure over an existing deck cuts down on how much direct sun the boards take, which slows fading and cracking. We can build it as part of a new deck or add it onto one that's already there.

Deck Cleaning & Pressure Washing

Mildew and algae build up fast on Gulf Coast decks, especially anything shaded or close to sprinklers. A yearly pressure wash at the right PSI keeps the surface from getting slick and buys a few more years before you need to reseal.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project is underway.

Do I need a permit to build a deck?
Most counties in Florida require a permit for any deck attached to the house or built more than 30 inches above grade, including inspections of the footings and framing before decking goes down. Freestanding decks under that height sometimes skip the permit requirement, but local code should be checked before assuming that applies.
How long does building a deck take?
A straightforward pressure-treated deck under 300 square feet usually takes one to two weeks from footings to final board, weather permitting. Multi-level decks, composite decking, or built-in features like benches and pergolas can push that to three or four weeks.
Can a deck be built to fit a specific budget?
Deck size, decking material and railing style are the easiest places to adjust cost without cutting corners on the framing. A contractor should be able to show a few material and layout options at different price points during the estimate.
Is there a guarantee on deck work?
Reputable deck contractors back their labor with a workmanship warranty, typically one to a few years, separate from the manufacturer's warranty on the decking material itself, which can run 25 years or more on composite brands. Warranty terms should be spelled out in writing, not just a verbal promise.
Who do I deal with during the project, the owner or a crew lead?
On most deck jobs, one point of contact, either the owner or a lead carpenter, handles scheduling and questions rather than passing them through an office. That person should stay reachable by phone during the build, not just at the estimate stage.
What decking materials are available?
Pressure-treated pine, cedar, and composite brands like Trex or TimberTech are the three most common choices, each with different upfront cost, maintenance schedule and lifespan. Pine needs restaining every year or two in Florida's sun, while composite holds its color longer but costs more per board.
Can the yard still be used while the deck is being built?
Yard access is usually limited near the immediate work area for safety, especially during footing digs and lumber delivery, but the rest of the property typically stays usable. Pets and kids should be kept clear of the site during active construction, particularly around power tools and open footing holes.
What should be done to prepare the site before work starts?
Clearing furniture, grills and plants off the existing deck or the build area makes the first day go faster, and any sprinkler heads or buried lines near the footing locations should be flagged ahead of time. Underground utility marking is typically handled by the contractor through a locate service before digging begins.
What happens if something unexpected turns up mid-project, like rotted framing?
If a deck rebuild uncovers rot in the ledger board, rim joist or existing footings that wasn't visible during the estimate, that gets flagged before proceeding, with a revised cost for the additional repair. This is common on older decks where the damage was hidden under the surface boards.
How should a finished deck be maintained?
Wood decks need restaining every one to two years in Florida's climate, plus a yearly pressure wash to keep mildew from building up in shaded spots. Composite decking needs far less, usually just periodic washing with soap and water to keep it from getting slick.
